About 3-4 years ago I was told by my physical therapist at the completition of my therapy that I would have to exercise routinely to keep my upper back healthy. I started going to a local gym and doing Bodypump 3-4 times per week.
At first, I really had to make myself go and the whole workout was painful. After 3 months of this I really started enjoying the workouts and could tell a difference in my strength and had maintained the health in my back. After 6 months I started noticing that I "had" to go to the gym. I didn't have to force myself to go it had become an absolute need. The intensity of my workout had increased and I could tell a difference in my arms and abdomen the most. I started wanting to watch what I was eating more and more. If I was working out so hard I didn't want to spoil it with my bad diet.
A couple of trainers had come up to me and told me that my shoulders looked good and that I should consider doing a fitness show. I laughed out loud at the thought of doing a fitness show. However, the idea started to burn inside me. "Why not" is what I kept asking myself. Of course, I had all sorts of reasons and excuses. I'm too busy. I'm too old. I don't belong on that stage. I can't do it. What if I fail? What if I make a fool of myself? Then I got tired of all the excuses and started asking questions. I knew nothing about fitness competitions or how to eat and train at that level.
A trainer and dear friend, Jeremy Morrision, gave me Michael Elias's name. I contacted him and started training in August of 2009 for my first show in October 2009. The process was tough. One of the hardest things I have ever done but one of the most rewarding. You really learn a lot about yourself both mentally and physically. My first show was a large show here in Oklahoma. A national qualifier for the NPC. I placed 4th and was very pleased. Now I had a new addiction and a new goal. How much better can I be?

Michael Elias is probably the smartest person I know when it comes to supplements. If it weren't for him there is no way I would have been able to do one fitness show.
Cliff Guthrie has believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. Pushes me in my workouts and makes me eat all of my chicken. If it weren't for him I probably would not be doing this Vegas show. He is absolutely one of the best men I know and makes me want to be a better athelete and person. Thanks baby!!
Jeremy Morrision has lovingly put dream tan on me more times than I can count. He has trained me and become a friend to me. He gives me honest feedback and lets me cry on his shoulder. He has an intellegence about training and life that I appreciate. He approaches fitness in an artistic manner that I love. He has had a huge and positive impact on my life.
It takes a villiage to do fitness competitions!
I have already been stepping up to my own plate / daring myself to stretch my comfort zone and here are some of my results and proud moments.
Competing in my first show. Winning at my second show. Going to the gym and completing a tough workout even when I don't want to.
I Feel Passionate About:
I am a petite little flower! 5'4" tall. Contest weight 100-103 lbs and off season weight 120lbs. My future goal contest weight is around 105 lbs.
Type of People I want to Associate With // Learn From and Why:
I am a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner. I work in a health and wellness medspa. We have a medical weight losss program and hormone replacement program. I have 8 years of experience in bio-identical hormone replacement in both men and women. I also perform some of our laser procedures, sclerotherapy, botox, and other injectables. I love helping people take ownership of their lifestyle, change the way they think and feel about food, and improve their quality of life. I like to see myself as a promoter of not just health but quality of life.

I work full time so fitness and training have to fit into that schedule. I know that is not unique to me. It makes setting fitness goals more challenging for me. Currently, my goal is to make it to the FAME show, perform to the best of my abilities, and go from there. I would like to compete in 2 shows next year. I did three this year.
I also have faced some significant personal adversity this year. I know that I am not the only competator to have to deal with personal issues. However, this has effected my training and my mental stamina. Next year I hope to be well past that and have more to give to my training.
